article: then and now | written down

then and now

Sadly, in the paper this week, there was a story about a child who was abducted off a suburban street. It made me think how much life changes over the years and how lucky I was growing up in a St Louis suburb in the 1970’s – we didn’t worry about those things – we spent summers riding bikes with the neighborhood kids, swimming on the swim team, playing games like ghost in the graveyard – how much fun we had. But we adapt and change – our children find fun in other ways.

I cut out the newspaper article – cut it into squares and used walnut ink to darken the paper – used water colour pencils and oil pastels in the other squares – and a photo from the swim club!
